The Squirrel’s Nest Bed & Breakfast, LLC is located high on a bluff that over-looks the Mississippi River and is situated in Burlington, Iowa’s historic North Hill District. Originally built as a Victorian farmhouse in 1890 by Edward S. Phelps, the home was remodeled in the 1920’s in a French cottage style.
The Metzger family built the penthouse suite from 1993-1996 and an expanded kitchen was added in 2001. The Squirrel's Nest Bed & Breakfast won first place in the United States as Best Room Addition in Qualified Remodeler Magazine in 1997.
You can walk through the neighborhoods of the Historic North Hill District's Victorian mansions to numerous, downtown specialty and antique shops. You can relax and dine at a variety of fabulous, quality restaurants. All are within walking distance for you to enjoy!
